Dialysis

Dialysis

Dialysis is a therapeutic treatment for patients with acute or chronic irreversible advanced renal failure.

The therapy artificially performs certain functions of the native organ, including the removal of excess solutes from organic metabolism, the restoration of acid-base electrolyte balance and body water content.

Hemodialysis performs these functions by means of an extracorporeal circuit in which the patient's blood passes through a filter (dialyzer) where solutes, electrolytes and water are exchanged with an external solution that is ready to use or prepared in line by the dialysis equipment.

Medica S.p.A. has developed a wide range of filters for adult and paediatric dialysis, ultrafilters for dialysate purification, and blood lines.

An electromedical machine for Dialysis will soon be available on the market.
