In general, the filtration system has been designed to guarantee a safe water supply where access to sanitation is not possible.
Thanks to filtration technology developed in the medical field, the ultrafiltration membrane (MediSulfone®) with 0.005 µm cut-off guarantees the highest removal performance for particles over 15 kDa, with a very high level of microbiological protection (11 LRV) bacteria, (8 LRV) viruses, (5 LRV) endotoxins, making the filter suitable for use with saltwater, rainwater, surface runoff water, well water etc.
By 2023, a new generation of filters (Graphil) will incorporate the membrane filtration with the adsorption properties offered by graphene to filter out emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals and PFAS (harmful perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances), in response to the requirements of the new directive on the quality of water intended for human consumption (2020/2184 EU).
The filters are manufactured by Medica S.p.A. and marketed exclusively by Camelbak (USA)
The range of solutions also includes dedicated filter cartridges supplied as partly completed equipment to be incorporated within bottles or other water purification devices.
